How to See When Someone Followed Someone on Instagram
Find out whether Instagram shows follow dates, what your own data export may contain, and why another person's timestamp is not public.

In general, Instagram does not show you a public timestamp telling when one account followed another. A profile's Following list can help you check whether a visible connection appears, but list position is not a dependable date. There is no universal Instagram follow date checker that can turn a public profile into a verified historical record.
Can you see the date of another person's follow?
Be careful with claims such as “see the exact date they followed.” A tracker may store when it first noticed an account in a list. That is an observation date, not necessarily the follow date. Without a reliable earlier snapshot, it cannot know whether the connection is hours, days, or years old.
Your own account data is different
For a connection involving your own account, request a copy of your Instagram information through Accounts Center. Meta describes the move of information controls in its official announcement. Select the Instagram profile and relevant data categories, then examine the archive Instagram provides.
The archive format, labels, available fields, and app menus can change. Do not assume that the file records every event or timestamps another account's actions. Keep the export private because it may contain personal information, messages, media, and connection data. Avoid uploading it to an unknown conversion website.
Why list order cannot answer “when?”
A list displayed in some order is not automatically chronological. Instagram can personalize or reorder lists, and interface options may differ by version, account, and region. Searching a Following list can answer a narrow question—whether a username is currently visible to you—but not when the connection began.
If you compare two permitted public snapshots, the most you can responsibly say is that an account appeared in one observation and not the other. The change may reflect a follow, visibility change, rename, list loading, or another platform event. Avoid turning that into an exact timestamp or proof of intent.
Protect your account and other people's privacy
Do not give a follower-history service your password, one-time code, or copied cookies. Review permissions before installing a browser extension; Chrome's help page explains why access to website data matters. Respect private-account settings and applicable platform rules.

Bottom line
Instagram does not provide a dependable public follow timestamp for another person. Use your own account archive for your own records.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an Instagram follow date checker for someone else's account?
Instagram does not publish a reliable public timestamp for another person's follow. A tool's first-seen date should not be mistaken for the event date.
Can my own archive show when I followed an account?
The archive may include connection records and fields that vary over time. Request your own export and inspect its current contents; do not assume it documents another user's activity.
Can following-list order prove a follow date?
No. Position is not a timestamp.
Can a follow-date checker give me an exact date?
Do not rely on a third-party date unless it explains a verifiable source. A date when a service first noticed a profile is not necessarily the follow date.
Where can I check my own Instagram information?
Use Instagram’s current information-download controls in Accounts Center. The archive fields vary, so inspect the files you receive.
