How to Export Your Instagram Followers List
Request your own Instagram information archive, find follower data, and keep the resulting list private and organized.

To export your Instagram followers list, start in Instagram's settings rather than giving your password to a follower-export website. Meta's account information controls are in Accounts Center. Its announcement about information management explains that Download Your Information and Access Your Information moved there.
Use the official export for your own account
Open Instagram, go to the menu and Accounts Center, then look for Your information and permissions and the current export/download option. Wording and screen order can vary. Select the Instagram profile you own, choose data categories covering followers or connections, select a format if prompted, and submit the request. Follow the in-app instructions when the archive is ready.
Locate and review follower data
Download the archive directly from Instagram, unzip it on a device you control, and search filenames for “followers” or “connections.” Exact names vary by language, export type, and app version. Open the HTML version in a browser for a readable view, or inspect JSON with a local text editor.
Check that the archive belongs to the right account and request period. Some exports split long lists across multiple files. If you combine them, preserve the originals and verify that you did not omit a part. The archive is a copy of data Instagram made available for that request, not a live view of current followers.
Store the list responsibly
Follower data can be personal information. Save only what you need, protect the archive, and do not share a public spreadsheet link. If you create a working table, use a clear label such as “export requested 2026-10-23”; do not call it a follow date unless the file explicitly supplies that field and you understand it.
If you use a browser extension to transform the file, check its permissions and privacy terms first. Google's Chrome Web Store guide explains that website access can expose page data. Never provide your Instagram password, session cookie, or login code to an exporter.
When you need CSV or Excel
The Instagram archive may not arrive as a ready-made spreadsheet. For conversion, follow our CSV and Excel walkthrough. For a complete archive including Following and account details, use the broader export guide.
Bottom line
Use Instagram’s official account export for your own data, check which files it includes, and store your backup somewhere private.
Frequently asked questions
Can I export another person's follower list through Accounts Center?
No. The account archive is tied to the account you control. It does not grant access to someone else's private or historical data.
Is the export a live list?
No. It reflects the archive prepared for your request. Followers can change afterward.
Where is the export setting?
Look in Instagram's Accounts Center under Your information and permissions. Menu wording may change between versions.
Can I export somebody else’s followers from my account settings?
Instagram’s account download is for information associated with your own account. It is not a tool for downloading another person’s private list.
How often should I make a backup?
Choose an interval that fits your needs, and note each archive’s request date. A backup is a snapshot, not a live list.
